Church Affiliated Organisations
Several organisations are run by church members, and meet regularly on our premises.
Our Sunday School meets every Sunday at 11.15am during school term times from the middle of August to the end of June. At the moment the ages range from 3 to 13.
We gather together in the Board room first of all and then we join the congregation for the first part of the service which includes singing, prayer and a story which usually involves the children and they always have something to look at.
We then go back to the Board Room to continue our time together. We use Spill the Beans to help us nurture our children in the Christian Faith. We also use drama and music to help children understand the message.
All children are very welcome to come along and join us.
St Andrew’s Guild
St Andrew’s Guild meets from the end of September to the end of March. The meetings are held in the Board Room of the Church every second Tuesday at 2.00 p.m.
We have a varied syllabus, which includes music, demonstrations and worship.
We would welcome anyone who would like to come along and join us in Christian fellowship.
Fellowship Lunch Club
This alternates weeks with Guild meetings, and meets from 12.00 in the Church Hall. The Lunch Club is open to anyone, and you will be made most welcome when you arrive.
Southmuir Carpet Bowling Club
The Southmuir Carpet Bowling Club meets on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Church Hall in Glamis Road.
It endeavours to provide a welcoming place of friendship and fellowship to everyone who comes along and new members are always welcome.
The Club meets from early October till mid December, resuming in January and running on till mid-April. Membership is presently 36 and average attendance is 25. The Club is happy to organise two Whist Drives annually in support of St. Andrew’s and also helps with the Sale of Work.
The church’s premises are also used by a number of community groups, and some are shown below. For the latest information, including times and contact information, please consult the notice boards at the church.
Scottish Country Dance Club
St. Andrew’s Scottish Country Dance Club meets weekly, on a Monday evening, in the Church Hall in Glamis Road from mid-October till the end of March. It starts at 7.30 p.m. and normally ends at 9.15 p.m. There is always a welcome juice break.
Both men and women are welcome, and we try particularly hard to help beginners feel at ease, encouraged and valued. The aims of the Club are to keep alive the heritage and traditions of our native land, keeping fit and active to live music and friendship and enjoyment.
Our office bearers are: Alan Bentley – President; Mrs. E. Morrison – Vice-President.
Angus Strathspey and Reel Society
The Society was founded in 1963 by a well-known Kirriemarian, the late Angus Cameron. He invited local fiddlers to form, with him, an orchestra which would play, and thereby, keep alive, Scottish Traditional Fiddle Music.
The Society meets each Monday evening between mid-September to mid-May in the Boardroom of St. Andrew’s Kirk, Glamis Road, Kirriemuir at 7.30 p.m. The practice usually goes on for about 1 hr. 30 mins. The Society plays out at many – mainly charity based – functions in, and furth of Angus. Its membership comprises all age groups – from 12 years to 90 years! – and all occupations.
Please join us if you wish. A basic grade 3 Standard should suffice to get you going!

Thrums Art Group
A friendly and enthusiastic band of amateur artists, until recently a sub group of Prime Time, has decided to set up an independent club called the Thrums Art Group.
The group meets every Thursday afternoon in the church hall from 2pm to 4 pm. All members appreciate being able to pursue their hobby in the company of others, who have the same interests, and who help one another by sharing materials and giving advice and constructive criticism. A variety of media is used such as pastels, watercolours, acrylics, gouache and coloured pencils.
There is no restriction on age or ability. Men and women are both welcome.
